10th February 1972 was the first night of David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust tour - and it took place at the Toby Jug pub in Tolworth, a quiet suburban town just outside of London.

This site celebrates that momentous moment in rock n' roll history.

Home: Welcome

Music has the power to transport us to another time and place. So let us take you back to 1972, and share the impact that one night in February had on music, fashion and the whole damn world.

It all began in a pub called The Toby Jug. It doesn't exist anymore, demolished in 2002 (almost 30 years to the day Bowie performed as Ziggy) to make way for flats. But in its hey-day it played host to bands on their way up, including Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin and Jethro Tull.

And it was here that David Bowie kicked off his Ziggy Stardust tour. So dive in and celebrate half-a century of the star-spangled alien with the screwed-up eyes and screw-down hair-do...
